Bodymind June Float Notes

Are you a human doing,

or a human being?

Tips for a Great Float!

Floating is a practice…. Here are some tips from our more experienced friends!

#1: Shower thoroughly – We all float here. We want to keep the tanks spotless. You want us to keep the tanks spotless. Cosmetics, soaps, dyes, and general body stuff make it difficult. Help us help you!

#2: If you use ear plugs, put them in when your ears are dry.

#3. Don’t overheat in the shower. If the shower’s too warm, the tank may feel too cool by contrast.

#4: Dry your face and tummy after your pre-float shower, before entering the tank.

#5: Float naked - Swimsuits become crusty & abrasive…a scratchy distraction! The door locks! The room is yours!

#6: Sit down then lay back in the tank to begin.

#7: Use the sides to reduce ‘ping-ponging,’ Gently touch the walls with your arms and legs to settle the water and settle yourself in the center of the tank.

#8: Experiment! Find the most comfortable arm position for you. Arms at your side? Arms above your head? What works best for you?

#9: Turn the lights off – Once you’re comfortable, darkness decreases distractions and improves your ability to relax and focus on your breathing.

#10: Gently stretch when you’re done. Stretching always feels good, and it’s extra good when you’re relaxed and your muscles are warm!

Psst. Hey Guys….

June is National Men's Health Month! This month is all about encouraging men (including you, sir!) to take care of their bodies by eating right, exercising, and working to prevent disease.

WHY NATIONAL MEN'S HEALTH MONTH IS IMPORTANT

That checks out… If you're stressing about a symptom—a busted knee, a persistent headache—it can be easy to get in a cycle of worrying about it. But going to the doctor can do two incredible things: one, it can figure out what's wrong, but, two, it can keep you from worrying! Men's Health Month encourages you to get yourself checked out so you can feel better—and stop worrying.

A conversation starter… Men's Health Month gets people talking about health, which gets people acting about health. Gyms get joined, diets get started, and better habits get initiated. It's a beautiful thing. Join in!

An excuse for pampering… Lots of things that are good for your body are also good for your soul! Hang with your friends, spin some vinyl, take an extra long nap..FLOAT! It's all healthy, and if anyone asks the occasion you've got an answer at the ready: “It’s Men's Health Month!”

Float Foundations

As announced in the May newsletter, Bodymind is launching a program for new floaters—and casual floaters who aren’t yet members—to dive deeper into their floating practice.

We at Bodymind Syracuse believe that the more you float, the more you get out of floating. In support of this practice, we’ve launched a new program called the “Float Foundations Starter Bundle.”

Meet the Staff!

CANDLES!

How talented are we? We at BodyMind are great at making you feel great while maintaining a sparkling clean facility, but we have many other talents!

For example, Lisa, one of our staff floatationists, is also a candlemaker. Her soy-based candles are available at the shop in Sandalwood, Lavender, Black Sea, and, Sea Salt & Orchid scents. (I recommended Peanut Butter scented, but my request was denied….)
